About us

The Foundation of Red Wolves Athletics

Centennial Bank Stadium, previously known as Indian Stadium and Liberty Bank Stadium, was officially opened on September 28, 1974, marking a new era for Arkansas State University football. The stadium’s construction was a critical step in the university’s growth, initially providing seating for over 16,000 spectators. Since then, it has been the consistent home of the Arkansas State Red Wolves, hosting countless legendary moments in the Sun Belt Conference.

A History of Growth and Modernization

Our commitment to excellence is reflected in the stadium’s history of expansion and renovation:

  • 1991 Expansion: This crucial project dramatically increased the stadium’s capacity to over 30,000 seats, coinciding with Arkansas State’s elevation to the NCAA Division I-A (now FBS) level, affirming the program’s ambition.
  • Allison Field: The playing surface, now modern GEO Surfaces field turf, is proudly named Allison Field, honoring the generosity and dedication of the Johnny Allison family to A-State Athletics.
  • The Centennial Expansion: Completed in the mid-2010s, this major multi-million dollar renovation fundamentally transformed the West Side. It featured a complete overhaul of the press box and the addition of the new, multi-level premium seating areas, significantly elevating the venue’s capabilities and fan experience.

More Than a Stadium: A Performance Complex

Centennial Bank Stadium is an integral part of a comprehensive athletic complex. The south end zone houses the three-story ASU Football Facility, which provides state-of-the-art resources for student-athletes.

  • Performance Enhancement Center: This facility is designed to promote holistic student-athlete development, incorporating an Athletic Training Center, a modern Strength and Conditioning Center, and the Student-Athlete Academic Success Center.

The Vault: Our Enduring Identity

The stadium’s popular nickname, “The Vault,” reflects the passion of the Red Wolf fanbase and the difficulty opposing teams face when playing here. We are owned and operated by Arkansas State University, and every game, every event, and every renovation is carried out with the singular goal of supporting our student-athletes and enriching the experience of our loyal fans.
